Job Description

As a development tester at Ubi MTL, you will be the validation before integration, responsible for the quality of a particular feature during production. You will troubleshoot issues effectively to ensure that no bugs or issues end up in the final version of a game.

When testing, you take into account every choice and movement a player might make during the game. By working with artists, designers, programmers and others, you find the source of the problems and the solutions to fix them. Thanks to you, when the game is finally launched, players will not only experience a functional game, but also an enjoyable experience.

What you will do

  • Work with your team leader to understand the overall game vision and design documents.
  • Develop a test strategy, create test plans and write test cases for the feature / feature for which you are responsible.
  • Follow up on feature bugs detected by internal and external teams, and coordinate their correction (sort, prorate and assign to relevant developers).
  • Work with other development testers to stay up to date, correct features, suggest solutions, share knowledge, etc.
  • Meet with the development team to discuss progress, offer your creative input, etc.
  • Create bespoke game versions, reproducing bugs to assess their risks.
  • Write and maintain documentation, detailing the faults found and their sources.
  • Help come up with ideas for automated tests + solutions to optimize the testing process.
  • Create your own automated tests and analyze test results

Qualifications

What you bring to the team

  • A college diploma in a program related to video games, sound design or equivalent training
  • At least 2 years of experience in quality control, quality assurance, or other relevant experience
  • Knowledge of database software such as Jira
  • Knowledge of test management tools such as TestRail and Xray
  • Knowledge of Wwise software
  • Understanding of test principles and methodologies
  • A collaborative, empathetic and innovative spirit
  • Critical thinking, attention to detail, curiosity, resourcefulness and great flexibility
  • Excellent problem solving, organization, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of the development process + a passion for video games
