We have achieved serial successes across a wide variety of titles including Elite Dangerous , Planet Coaster , Jurassic World Evolution and Planet Zoo . We are continuing to grow our team to support our existing portfolio and an exciting and ambitious future roadmap, which includes the development of both own-IP titles and licensed-IP titles. Our IP-license partners include Universal (Jurassic World), Formula 1 and Games Workshop (Warhammer).We are also growing our team to continue the expansion of Frontier Foundry, our publishing label for games developed by carefully selected partner studios.

We have a modern spacious studio located on the Cambridge Science Park in the heart of the Cambridge tech hub. For those who wish to relocate to the Cambridge area and work either entirely in the studio or flexibly between the studio and home, we can provide generous financial and practical support to facilitate your move. We are also able to offer remote working for those who would prefer to work almost exclusively from home or who are unable to relocate. We can discuss your preferences with you during the recruitment process.

Purpose of the role

Frontier focuses on high quality internal QA testing for all our games. Audio testers have a fundamental role in our audio development process, helping us deliver groundbreaking audio across multiple projects.

We are seeking a technically minded communicator, with an ear for detail who is looking to challenge themselves in a role embedded on the audio team. If you have strong interest in game audio and a passion to help improve the audio quality level within our games, then we would love to hear from you!

Successful candidates will be responsible for testing new features, generating accompanying documentation, creating and executing test suites, generating reports and providing feedback in order to aid in driving up the overall audio quality of all of our products.

You will be joining during an exciting period of growth at Frontier and as part of our audio team your work will help ensure we deliver interactive audio to exceptional standard across multiple games. We welcome applications from those with or without testing experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the games’ audio systems, using middleware (Wwise) and other development tools to identify issues
  • Create, maintain and execute audio-specific Test Suites for new and existing projects
  • Find and report issues in a clear and accurate manner
  • Develop a great working relationship with the rest of the audio team
  • Execute test requests from audio designers and programmers
  • Become a gameplay expert and share knowledge with the rest of the audio team
  • Work with producers and other QA team members to pro-actively identify problematic areas which require more test coverage
  • Provide helpful end-user feedback to the wider audio team

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven logical and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Basic understanding of game engine editors and game development tools
  • Basic understanding of audio processes and middleware used in game development

Desirable Requirements:

  • Games industry experience
  • Previous experience working with game engine editors and development tools
  • Strong technical knowledge of the leading consoles and PC
  • Strong understanding of development workflows with game engine editors and development tools
  • Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, Hansoft and TestRail
  • Knowledge of version control software, such as SVN
  • An understanding of software accessibility
  • An understanding of what makes a good user experience
  • Experience with destructive and exploratory testing methodology and practices
  • Understanding of Agile processes
